why has he gone on hoilday instead of bonding with his son? with the new football season starting soon and the fact that the baby is in portugal while he’s in spain, surely he would want to spend as much time as possible with him

That’s very true. i don’t mind him having a child, that’s fine. But wouldn’t you WANT to spend time with you brand new baby? Especially as you said Elle, football season is about to begin and it gets very hectic with his schedule. I’m not a mother or anything, so I don’t know about the whole paternal feeling, but I would want to spend every second of my time with the kid. Him running around NYC with his little girlfriend is kind of annoying. Maybe it’ll get better right?

Elle just spoke my mind,I agree with you.I mean if he wanted this child so much that he paid surrogate mother huge money… and now he just left him with his mother????If I would have what I want THE MOST,or I would have a child dear GOD I would go crazy from happiness I would spend time with him enjoy it .. you know… and now for me it seems like CR is running from his child.. now he’s in NY .. soon he’ll be in UK for football event.. then again somewhere…If he wanted this child ,why he’s not beying with his new born … he’s just spending time with girls like he did… is this a father? According to our information (in Japan), I heard that Cristiano is going to have press conference after he retruns to Madrid. I’m not sure if this is true or not. But I think his further comment will be annouced by his agent…
So I think we had better to wait… Because I don’t know what he thinks about the baby ….
Well, he is enjoying with his girlfriend and let his mother to taking care of baby means that he prefers to girl than his baby? he doesn’t love his baby? I don’t think so. Becuase I have many examples I have seen that couples asked their parents to take their new baby for a while because they are going to trip…or others…
After he returns from his vacation, I think the things will be changed…
I think Crsitiano wants to live his life as he wants to do… so it’s hard for us to understand this case because of Special case. If his girl is the baby’s mother, the things must be different, I think.
Actually If I were him, I would take care of my baby because I want to see my baby! This is natual thing…
But another point is, I think the feeling is different between man and woman… I have seen so many men had not been spent much with their new born baby (I couldn’t really understand it!)… But they were not bad father…
So I think it’s too early to say “it’s girls in Cristiano’s head, not children” and we can see that now. At least, NOT ME.

@Miho: I 100% agree with you! Men are very different than women. Most women wouldn’t dare be tore apart from their babies, but that’s mother nature isn’t it? In my psychology class we learned that men don’t truly bond with their kids until much later like 6 months or so when the kid begin to able to play and interact more. The father takes more of an active role then — perhaps for right now that the baby is only a month or so, and it’s only sleeping and eating his mother and sister are their for it??? I don’t know, but I think Miho’s right in saying that’s it’s to early to tell if Cris’ will be a good or bad father. Only time will tell.

The only reason I could think of…he didn’t expect the birth of the baby, so he doesnt prepare to be a loving dad yet. Evidence : He chose Irina over his baby. So rumor about he wanted a baby by using surrogate mother is definitely not true.

Let’s wach his further action. I don’t think he chose Irina over his baby at all. We can see he is enjoying with Irina but I don’t think this will be an evidence at all…. no prove at all. And we still don’t know what he thinks, yet…
For me, it doesn’t matter if the baby was borned by surrogate mother or not. And the baby is an innocent.
I think Cristiano could choose another way (he can do anything, I think) if he doesn’t expect the baby. but Cristiano decided to take a responsiblity (maybe some of us disagree or have negative opinion) finally.
And I have seen many cases that baby had changed his father completely! Even if Cristiano prefers Irina than baby now (I really don’t think so), the baby will change him. As Diana said “Only time will tell” is right.

actually you are wrong. during my profession i have seen a father step in to the mother’s role due to many circumstances. dad’s can be just as protective as a mother can be.
if the situation was diffrent and irina WAS the Mother of his son, then i doubt he would wonder off. It’s ok and not unusal for a grandparent to look after a child while there parent is working. but as we’ve seen he’s made no effort to see him at all.
in short i don’t think we would ever see ronaldo taking his son to the park on his day off or teaching him how to kick a ball.
Unfortunalty the little boy was abanned by his mum and then by his dad. thank god he seem to have a loving grandmother than put her life on hold to look after him.
as i said before, one day ronaldo would make a great dad. but at the moment he’s too selfish and immature at the moment and sadly too late for this little boy.

i don’t know about other countries, but if he was a regular guy in the uk, that baby would be taken off him by now.

We (Japanese fans) never think like that. As you said “we’ve seen he’s made no effort to see him at all” or he’s too selfish. This is cause by different culture or thinking, I think.

Finally, I remember Cristiano's father…. He wasn't good father, I think… but he loved his son and Cristiano loved him.

i think that he’s gaining a brother not a son. i’m a nurse and i offten work with children and familys. i don’t doubt that ronaldo doesn’t love his son or that he’s son won’t love him. but there will never be that bond. i have seen instince like this before. you seem to be too obsorbed in the cult of ronaldo, where else we his fans are seeing a dark side that we all hoped we wouldn’t see.
so before you start sending me stupid little messages, let me say this. Yes our cultures are diffrent but portugese is more western and similar to what i have to deal with than yours. i’m talking from a professional point of view and no matter what you say i and many other ronaldo fans have cause for concern about this little boy. but as derbyanabella says only time would tell.
