On Monday evening the Football Association released the following statement:

“The FA has received a claim for wrongful dismissal from Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen.

“Vermaelen was shown a red card for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity during Arsenal’s match against West Ham United on Saturday 20 March.

“A Regulatory Commission will hear the claim on Tuesday 23 March.”

I hope it works. I don’t know if this is a situation where if Arsenal appeal and lose it goes from a one match ban to a three match ban? or is that just if you have been sent off for violent conduct, anyone know???
Anyway i’m keeping my fingers crossed, Arsenal really need him for the Birmingham match.
